Manufacturing Progress & Software Enhancements

Hello everyone,

We're excited to share the latest progress on JetKVM. With your incredible support, we've reached an amazing milestone - over $1.5 million pledged from 11,046 backers!

Manufacturing Progress

Die Casting

In our last update, we mentioned that the JetKVM body and back cover are crafted from a single piece of die-cast ZAMAK 7 zinc alloy. This time, we're sharing how a ZAMAK 7 ingot is melted and shaped into the form of the JetKVM body.

SMT Factory

In addition to the case, the JetKVM PCB needs to be manufactured as well. After the PCBs are completed, they get sent to the Surface Mount Technology (SMT) factory, where they are loaded and fitted with all the surface-mounted components that bring JetKVM's electronics to life. In layman terms, the PCB factory builds the roads, and SMT adds the buildings.

Pre-Production Batch Completed

Before scaling up, we ran a pre-production batch of 100 units to validate every step of the production process. These units allowed us to identify and refine assembly workflows for the full production batch.

Scaling Up to Mass Production

Over the past week, we've focused intensely on finishing the pre-production batch and ramping up production. Here's the current status across the entire production process:

  • 22,000 PCBs - Production started yesterday and is expected to finish by Nov. 28.
  • SMT Assembly - Scheduled to begin on Nov. 30 and will take 4-5 days to complete.
  • Cables & Screens - Currently being made, will arrive by end of next week.
  • Cases - Over 1,200 cases have passed the final quality check so far. Currently processing 200 cases per day, with efforts underway to ramp up throughput by adding CNC machines and partnering with a second surface treatment factory.

Certification Completed

We've successfully completed all the required certifications, including CE and FCC. Everything went smoothly, with all requirements met.

Software Updates

Dark Mode

Dark mode is now available, providing an alternative interface option for better usability after sunset, or for people who simply prefer dark UIs.
