Open-Source Clarification
Dear Backers,
We'd like to take a moment to clarify our commitment to making all JetKVM software open source under GPL. It's both an important point for us, and many of us in the broader community. We've made updates to both our Documentation and the main Kickstarter story to ensure it's as clear as possible.
Timeline
The complete source code will be made available when the first JetKVM units ship in early December. Reviewers and early beta testers will have access to the code beforehand to ensure transparency and gather valuable feedback before the wider release.
What Will Be Open Sourced?
We will make the following JetKVM components fully open source under the GPL:
- System Image: The Linux-based operating system running BusyBox in user space.
- KVM Runtime: The core application, written in Go, responsible for the JetKVM's functionality.
- Local UI: The web dashboard accessible through the device's local IP address for full control and management.
- Cloud API & Cloud Dashboard: All cloud services, including the API and web dashboard for remote access and management, will be open sourced.
Community Contributions
Once the code is available on our GitHub, we invite contributions from the community. Whether it's submitting issues, creating pull requests, or improving documentation, we believe in the power of open collaboration to make JetKVM even better.
Thank you again for your support, and we're excited to take this next step with you!
Cheers, Adam & Lian
